The Intron

Currently under development The Intron is a publication dedicated to searching out and disseminating the most interesting ideas, people and projects in Biodesign, Biotechnology, the Circular Economy and related areas.

The Intron – What is an Intron?

The Collins dictionary describes an Intron as ‘a stretch of DNA that interrupts a gene and does not contribute to the specification of a protein’.

Imagine a scenario. You walk into a bookshop looking for the best book you can find on a new subject you are interested in. After purchasing a book on the history of the Holy Roman Empire you take it home and discover that throughout the book there are random paragraphs about Tennis, Falconry, Make Up and Bookkeeping.

Those paragraphs are Introns, perfectly coherent pieces of information, just not relevant to the project at hand.

This is why we have called our publication The Intron.

The project will launch later this year, we are currently in the process of conducting interviews, researching new stories, and looking for additional contributors.

If you would like to learn more about the Intron, become a contributor, tell us about a story, or have your work featured, please get in touch.
